An Introduction to Emergency and Critical Care Ultrasound

This CPoCUS approved one day course is aimed at clinicians wanting to introduce point-of-care ultrasound into their clinical practice.

This course has been designed for all doctors in acute care e.g Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Surgery. It provides the core knowledge for CPoCUS Core IP and is applicable to other 'Acute Care' specialties.

The ECCU 1 Course is fully recognized by The Canadian Point of Care Ultrasound Society (CPoCUS).
Attending a recognized introductory Emergency Ultrasound course is a required first step in attaining the status of
Independent Practitioner (IP).

This Canadian Point of Care Ultrasound Society (CPoCUS), Royal College of Emergency Medicine, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons and College of Family Physicians of Canada approved one day course is aimed at clinicians wanting to introduce ultrasound into their clinical practice.

This course has been designed for all doctors in acute care e.g. Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Intensive Care, Surgery. It provides the core knowledge for the CPoCUS IP training and is applicable to other 'Acute Care' specialties.

During the day, we will cover

  • How to use an ultrasound machine
  • Aortic and IVC ultrasound
  • Trauma eFAST ultrasound
  • Cardiac & Thoracic ultrasound
  • Vascular access
  • Pelvic/Obstetric ultrasound
  • Training and certification

Using a combination of pre-reading, interactive lectures, and hands-on workstations, this course will teach the basics of Emergency & Critical Care Ultrasound, and give you the confidence to start practicing.

 

 

This course includes high fidelity PoCUS simulation with the CAE Vimedix Simulator (CAE Vimedix Simulator)

The ECCU1 Rural Course

 

This is an introductory level course specifically tailored for rural physicians. In addition to the Core IP applications, we have included a section on other applications applicable to Rural PoCUS.

 

This course has been designed for all doctors in acute care e.g Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Hospitalist, Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Surgery. It provides the core knowledge for the CPoCUS Core IP and is applicable to other 'Acute Care' specialties. Applicability to rural practice is considered for application.

Applications covered include: Physics, Instrumentation, Aorta, Trauma (FAST), Vascular Access, Shock, Cardiac (ELS), Obstetric, Rural PoCUS

 

During the day we will cover:
