ECCU Trauma

This Canadian Emergency Ultrasound Society (CEUS), College of Emergency Medicine and College of Family Physicians of Canada approved one day course is aimed at clinicians wanting to introduce ultrasound into their trauma practice.

This course has been designed for all doctors engaged in Trauma Care care e.g. Emergency Medicine, Surgery,Intensive Care, Anesthesia. It provides the core knowledge and more for ATLS recommended ultrasound and is applicable to other specialties.

You will be introduced to the ultrasound skills required to diagnose abdomino-pelvic, pleural and pericardial hemorrhage; to exclude pneumothorax, to assess IVC filling, and to assist with vascular access.

During the day, we will cover

  • How to use an ultrasound machine
  • The FAST Scan
  • E-FAST (Extended FAST - Thoracic Trauma, Long Bones)
  • Shock Resuscitation Ultrasound (IVC assessment)
  • Trauma Procedural ultrasound - Vascular access, Thoracocentesis
Using a combination of interactive lectures and hands-on workstations, this course will teach the basics of Trauma Ultrasound, and give you the confidence to start practicing.
