Med Student ECCU: Emergency and Critical Care Ultrasound

This Canadian Emergency Ultrasound Society (CEUS), College of Emergency Medicine and College of Family Physicians of Canada approved one day course is aimed at medical students wanting to introduce ultrasound into their learning.

This course has been designed for MED1 and MED2 students.

During the seminar, we will cover


  • How to use an ultrasound machine incorporating aorta scanning
  • FAST scanning
  • Cardiac & Thoracic ultrasound
  • Training and certification


Using a combination of interactive lectures and hands-on workstations, this course will teach the basics of Emergency & Critical Care Ultrasound, and give you the confidence to start using ultrasound in your training.

Dalhousie Medicine - 2012,2013,2014

This course was supported by an educational grant from Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick. 


Elements of this course have now been incorporated into the Dalhousie Undergraduate curriculum and clerkship training.
